Education Loans

Everybody runs to banks for student’s education loans. The first thing that comes to the mind for higher education, or for paying students fees, is education loans. There are several types of other financial aid than loans, including loans, scholarships and work study programs. Several loans are available under various programs as education loans. These education loans provide you with the funds necessary from the elementary to any higher education you may require.

There may be certain conditions that you need to comply with to avail of these education loans. It is provided to low income students whose family income is below the average. Pell loans have recently increased the grant amount. In order to qualify for a Pell grant, you need to be a US citizen and an undergraduate student.
Another type of these education loans by the US government is the need based loans. A student has many other expenses besides tuition and fees. Transportation, accommodation, cost of textbooks, materials and several other expenses for education can be met by the need based loans. The federal government has set aside funds as need based loans, to give financial assistance to students to cover their education.

The National Smart Grant is another of these education loans given to students based on their academic achievements. This is a merit based grant and eligible students must pursue a major in engineering, computer sciences, mathematics or in a foreign language to be used in national security career.

The Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant or FSEOG is provided to students with the greatest need, who belong to the lowest expected family contribution. This is a need based grant and is called a supplemental grant, as it is used in addition to other loans like Pell Grant, to cover your tuition and other costs. To avail of the FSEOG, you need to be an undergraduate and an America citizen; and you also must have a Pell grant and must belong to a low income group.

All these loans are issued from time to time every year.  Announcements are made regarding the issue of these loans and you can get information from the school/college office also.  You can apply through the school/college or directly to the loans office.  You need to know the eligibility criteria and must fill in the application forms legibly and neatly. Since they receive thousands of applications for the education loans as this is free money that need not be repaid back, they will not bother to go through an application that has cuts and scratches and that cannot be read properly. So apply for your education grant in the proper form, neatly and legibly; and avail of the education loans to complete your studies.
